Today!... I think I have decided to do my project on two poems by Julio Cortazar. Since I really liked Axolotl, I decided to research him further. All the poems that I have read by him so far have simply worded narratives that seem very matter of fact, but have supernatural or odd endings. This seems to fit into what we have discussed about Latin American Literature and magical realism. Next I need to start getting more biographical information from reliable sources and writing my biography of Cortazar.

12/4/06...Today in class we began researching our final project in the library. I decided to concentrate on one author's poetry. I found a really great anthology of 2oth Century Latin American Poets, I should be able to find an auther out of there. I investigated a few different authors--mostly ones I had heard of-- like Borges and Marquez. I haven't made any final decisions on an author yet, but I definately want to do my project on a poet and find some sort of theme or symbol they use often and work on that.
